Sizzling Summer Activities In Anaheim, CA

Anaheim, California, is hopping this summer with amazing activities and events perfect for individuals, couples, and families. Whether you’re looking for the perfect spot to celebrate the 4th of July, a local farmer’s market, or the perfect summer activity for the kids, Anaheim is the place to be. We’ve compiled this amazing list of summer activities in and near Anaheim that are sure to make your summer the best one yet!

Summer Activities

4th of July Celebrations

Anaheim and many local cities offer amazing 4th of July parades, fireworks, events, and more. Events begin early in Anaheim at 7 a.m. with the Firecracker Run. Additional events include a pancake breakfast, a dog show, a parade, a live show, and, to finish off, fireworks starting at 9 p.m.

For the full list of activities hosted by Anaheim, visit the Anaheim City Council website. Additional 4th of July activities are hosted throughout Orange County . Some exciting venues hosting fireworks this year include Huntington Beach and Disneyland. Bring a blanket or chair for your group to enjoy the show. No matter where you go, seating for the fireworks is on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Adventure Lagoon Beach

There is no better way to cool off during the hot summer heat than a trip to a local waterpark. The Adventure Lagoon offers a unique experience with a sandy beach on a gorgeous, crystal-clear lake. Come and enjoy the beach or purchase additional entry to the floating aqua park located in the center of the lake. 

To attend, you’ll need your ID, the signed waiver, a bathing suit, and a towel—and don’t forget the sunscreen! Open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., admission ranges from $30 for beach-only entrance (kids five and under cost $5 each) or $40 for all-day access to the beach and one obstacle course session. We suggest you make your plans early as the park can fill up quickly. The Adventure Lagoon is located at 3255 East Miraloma Avenue in Anaheim.

Disneyland After Dark

Summer is a great time to visit the mouse! Disneyland has longer hours in the summer and offers lots of special activities for kids of all ages. Disneyland After Dark is a collection of special events that require reservations made ahead of time, such as the Grad Nite Reunion (June 23, 28, and 30). Tickets sell out quickly, so plan ahead.

Disney parks require tickets as well as advance reservations. A complete list of parades, events, and shows (including the amazing 4th of July fireworks show) is listed on their Daily Events page.

Angels Stadium

Baseball is in the air! And the Angel Stadium offers games throughout the summer season. The 2022 summer line-up includes the Angels vs. the Dodgers, the Oakland Athletics, the Minnesota Twins, and the New York Yankees. Tickets start as low as $10 per person. 

Game times and dates vary. Pick your favorite team to watch or purchase tickets for multiple games. The Angel Stadium is located on 2000 Gene Autry Way in Anaheim. Parking is an additional $10. If you would like a close-up view of the stadium, you can schedule a personal, guided tour for just $12.

Downtown Anaheim’s Farmers Market

Nothing says summer like an outdoor farmers market. Anaheim hosts a lively market every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to fresh, local produce, you can shop from talented artisans and small businesses from the area.

The Downtown Anaheim’s Farmers Market opens every Thursday at 11 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. Night shoppers can also experience the Friday Night Street Market . Hours run from 5 to 10 p.m. the last Friday of the month. The market is located in downtown Anaheim at 180 W Center Street Promenade. Parking can be found around the market.

Events

All Fired Up BBQ Festival & Cook Off

Does the thought of smoked BBQ get your mouth watering? We’ve got the perfect food festival for you! The All Fired Up BBQ Festival and Cook Off is happening this summer in downtown Anaheim. Local pit masters and BBQ vendors will be on hand to cook the most delicious assortment of meats. Come be the judge and decide for yourself who will be the winner of this yearly contest.

Hosted at 180 W. Center Street Promenade in Anaheim on July 16 from 4 to 8 p.m., this event does require tickets for entry. Ticket sales will be announced via the Downtown Anaheim Facebook page. Be sure to follow their page for all updates on this event.

Kids Play Day

Kids tired of being cooped up? A day of play might be just what they need to get those wiggles out. Sponsored by Open Gym Premiere, the downtown Anaheim Kids Play Day includes FREE activities, including art, sports, literature, and science activities. Special appearances by Snow White, Dora, and Diego will be the highlight of the event.

Join the fun on June 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities are recommended for ages 12 and under. Food vendors and shopping will also be available. The event will be located near 180 W. Center Street Promenade in Anaheim. To register for the event, use the Eventbrite registration form (the event is FREE).

Reptile Show

The Reptile Super Show is making an appearance at the Anaheim Convention Center Hall A on July 9–10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Hosted only three times a year in Southern California, this do-not-miss event includes snakes, lizards, and amphibians of all shapes and sizes. Shop for reptile homes and food or bring home a brand new pet.

An adult admission is $16 while a child (12 and under) is $10. Upgrade to a VIP pass and get into the show an hour earlier for $50. Parking at the convention center is $26 a day. 

Kidz Con

Want to take your kids to the ultimate convention for kids? Try KidsCon , a destination experience event with shopping, food, activities and more all geared toward kids. Held on July 15–17, kids and adults can experience the latest in new toys, treats for all ages, and more.

Tickets sell out quickly and can be reserved in three-hour time slots on the date of your choice. Children (ages eight to 17) cost $20 to attend, and adults (18+) are $25. A VIP package is available for $175 for a family. Parking is $26 for the day. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. 

Shows and Performances

Sad Summer Festival

Looking for a great music festival right in the heart of Anaheim? Check out the Sad Summer Festival hosted by Journeys! This popular tour is returning this year and is perfect for a night out with friends.

This tour hits Anaheim on July 9 and includes an incredible artist line-up of Waterparks, Neck Deep, Mayday Parade, and more. Held at The Lot at City National Grove of Anaheim, this event includes great music and is open to all ages. A 12-inch clear bag to hold necessities and an empty plastic water bottle are permitted within the event. Ticket options include outdoor general admission at $49.50 per ticket or Funhouse VIP tickets for $120 each. Admission and venue open times will be printed on final tickets. Parking is $20 per car.

Who’s Bad – Michael Jackson Tribute Band

The House of Blues in Anaheim is host to many popular musical artists. This summer, the Who’s Bad tribute band will be performing a one-night-only concert of your favorites by the legendary Michael Jackson. 

Tickets are now available for the Thursday, July 23 event. Tickets start at $35 per person. The event begins at 8:30 p.m. The House of Blues is located at 1530 S. Disneyland Drive in Anaheim.
